One By One Program

One By One is a partnership between Capital Breast Care Center and the District of Columbia Housing Authority.  Funded through a grant by the Susan G. Komen Foundation, One By One is designed to reach women residing in public housing properties in the District of Columbia.  Working in conjunction with residents who have been trained as community health workers, health education staff from the Center provide monthly educational sessions which focus on breast health, individualized risk assessments, importance of early detection and promotion of healthy lifestyles. The overall goal of each session is to increase the use of mammography.
