Attend a YPAC Meeting
Our Young Professionals Advisory Council builds awareness of the Center and breast cancer through small-donation events and volunteer nights that appeal to men and women in their 20s and 30s. Please join us for a great time and great work. Please contact us for more information.

DC Sisterhood Raised Their Voices and Awareness
At Change for Change with DC Sisterhood at DC Metro Church on October 18, 2012, DC Sisterhood celebrated women through service and singing and raised awareness for CBCC. These passionate ladies are collected change and toiletries for our Young Professionals Advisory Council's Care Package Night on October 30, 2012. The Sisterhood celebrates the bonds that women share that they can use to enable health, happiness and well-being in each other.
Thank you for raising nearly $750 and donating two large boxes of toiletries for YPAC's Care Package Night!
Good4DC Held Happy Hour to Support CBCC

Build a Playground
On Saturday, September 15, 2012, the Make Kids Smile Foundation and Georgetown Lombardi's Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities Research built a new playground for Syphax Gardens. Syphax Gardens is a Southwest DC housing community which offers housing to low- and moderate-income families.
South Street Steaks Held a Fundraiser for CBCC!
On Thursday, September 13, 2012, South Street Steaks in Bethesda, MD, donated 20% of the proceeds from its sales to CBCC. The funds will enable CBCC to provide breast care services to more women regardless of their ability to pay.
CBCC-Lombardi Team Raised More
Than $86,000 Through the Avon Walk!
CBCC and Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center formed a team to walk the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, May 5-6, 2012. Passionate and determined, the team met weekly for training walks. Volunteers cheered and urged on walkers as they covered 39 miles!
Bachelors & Bridesmaids
The well-heeled pulled out their bridesmaid dresses and suit shirts to join Capital Breast Care Center and Shoot for Change for dancing and fun at L2 Lounge.
Kimberly Glenn emceed and guests sipped drinks called "Blush and Bashful" and "Bow Tie."
Fashiontographer shot photos, which will be included in the popular District of Fashion editorial lookbook.
Hosted by Shoot for Change and Capital Breast Care Center. This event was covered by Bisnow and raised over $750 for Capital Breast Care Center.
Gift of Life Project Launch
The Gift of Life Project is a collaborative program that encourages women in the Washington, DC, area to be proactive about their breast health. Visit Capital Breast Care Center for your mammogram and have the opportunity to win several prizes to enliven the body and spirit. We commenced the program in style on January 25, 2012, at Nival Salon & Spa with complimentary champagne and chocolates.
The event was well attended and was enjoyed by all. We were glad to see both new and familiar faces. The launch raised $460. Thank you for the support!

Second Annual YPAC Care Package Night
On December 6, 2011, CBCC's YPAC and other volunteers created 500 care packages containing beauty, personal care products and personal notes of encouragement so that each patient who receives a mammogram at Capital Breast Care Center is able to leave with a token of appreciation. Special thanks to CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Hela Salon & Spa, Murad, Myriad, Nature's Table, Pepco, Red Door Spas and Urban Halo--Clarendon for their generous donations, making the event possible. Thank you also to Marshall Moneymaker of For 3 Sisters for helping us create the care packages for our patients.
Project Inspiration
Leaders from Washington, D.C., area nonprofits dressed in "Old Hollywood" glam to raise funds and awareness. Our own former development director, Susannah Fox, was invited to participate in Project Inspiration by Walter Grio, photographer and founder of Shoot for Change. The November 16, 2011, event raised $4,200 for the nonprofits of the participants. Wgirls Happy Hour to Benefit CBCC at The Front Page
Wgirls hosted a happy hour on Novemember 2, at The Front Page. $10 covered happy hour prices the entire three hours. Proceeds from raffle and ticket sales went to CBCC. A great way to get out of the cold and support screenings for women regardless of their ability to pay!
Update: We appreciate your efforts and are thrilled that Wgirls raised nearly $800 for CBCC!
Breast Cancer Awareness Press Conference Hosted
by Mary Cheh and The NFL Players Association
Ward 3 Councilmember Mary Cheh, The NFL Players Association organized a press conference to emphasize the importance of breast health and former CBCC Executive Director Beth Beck spoke on "Breast Cancer in the District: What DC Women Need to Know." Held at the Wilson Building on Friday, October 28, 2011, attendees learned what they can do to improve Washington, D.C.'s high breast cancer mortality rates.

Barbells for Boobs to Raise Money for
Mammograms for Low-Income and Uninsured Women
On October 27, 2011, Barbells for Boobs hosted a fundraiser from 6:30-7:30 p.m. to benefit Mammograms in Action, an organization that aims "to provide funding for qualified low-income and uninsured women and men who need screening and/or diagnostic procedures in the prevention of breast cancer." Participants came to Trident CrossFit in Alexandria, VA, and supported a group with a mission so similar to CBCC's!
